Criminal Defense FAQs

Talk with an experienced criminal defense lawyer who can guide you in making wise decisions about your future.

When should I talk with a lawyer?

  • You are always better off to NOT talk to police officers and investigators.
  • Talk with an experienced criminal defense lawyer who can guide you in making wise decisions concerning your future.

What could happen if I am convicted?

  • You should never plead guilty or accept a plea bargain unless you consult with a lawyer.
  • In addition to a prison sentence, probation or other punishment from the criminal court, a criminal conviction can have lifelong consequences for your personal life, family circumstances and employment.
  • A criminal conviction never goes away and cannot be expunged or removed from your record. Landlords, employers, banks and such can easily have access to your criminal history.

What if I am not a US citizen?

  • If you are not a citizen, you should never plead guilty or accept a plea bargain unless you consult with an immigration lawyer.
  • But for non-citizens - even for those legally in the country, a conviction for a misdemeanor can have serious lifelong consequences, including deportation.
  • Even if you are a citizen, being charged with a felony is far more serious than being charged with a misdemeanor.
